NANNUP → MANJIMUP
Brief overview
An 83 km section of extraordinary variety — from quiet paved farmland roads out of Nannup, through magnificent Karri forest on Gold Gully Road, to the magical Donnelly River Village with its wildlife, café and chalets, spectacular Karri forest singletrack and the iconic Karta Burna hut perched high above the Donnelly River valley.

Description of the Trail
Heading south from Nannup, the trail climbs gradually for about 20 km on a very quiet paved road through hilly, pretty and often lush green farmland.
The trail then follows the high-quality Gold Gully Road through magnificent Karri forest to Willow Springs Campground.
From Willow Springs to Donnelly River Village, the trail is mainly singletrack — the Karri forest envelops you completely.
A highlight is a winding 3 km singletrack section starting near Willow Springs Campground.
You'll arrive at Donnelly River Village with a big smile.
Donnelly River Village is a magical spot well worth spending the night — camp, stay in a bunkhouse or rent a chalet.
An excellent café serves meals, and wild kangaroos, emus and birds will eat from your hands.
Watch the emus don’t steal your food!
Visit the King Karri just 1 km northwest — the world’s fourth biggest Karri tree.
Swim at nearby Wheatley Dam.
Southbound from Donnelly River Village, descend on doubletrack then excellent singletrack through mature Karri forest.
Before One Tree Bridge, the section along the Donnelly River is a highlight.
The trail crosses paved Graphite Road at One Tree Bridge — a great swimming spot with flushing toilets nearby.
The last few kilometres to Karta Burna Hut climb switchbacks out of the river valley — well built with steep apexes but otherwise easy to climb.
Karta Burna Hut sits high on a grassy slope with expansive views to the northwest.
It is located in Foresters Wood arboretum, where close to 100 tree species have been planted since the 1930s.
Download the free Foresters Wood App before you ride, as phone signal is unlikely at the hut.
From Karta Burna to Manjimup, the trail follows gravel roads, bush tracks and railway trackbeds through forest and farmland — about half on singletrack.
The trail passes beside tiny Deanmill, about 6 km west of Manjimup.
The Deanmill Workers Club pub and restaurant is usually open from 4 pm.

Real Stories from travelers
“We rode the Munda Biddi end-to-end over 16 days on the hardtails with full camping gear. It was raw, challenging and absolutely incredible. Waking up in the forest every morning, riding through endless jarrah trees and feeling completely disconnected from everything — that’s what made it special. The bikes were perfectly set up for bikepacking and we felt fully self-sufficient the whole way.”
“I chose the hardtail expedition setup with camping gear and it was the best decision. Everything was dialled — bags, gear, bike. Long days, sometimes tough, but the freedom you get riding fully self-supported is unreal. If you’re looking for a real adventure, this is it.”
“We did a 7-day section with the electric bikes — honestly the perfect balance. You still get the full Munda Biddi experience, but without carrying gear. The e-bikes made longer distances super enjoyable and arriving at a proper bed each evening was a game changer.”
“I wasn’t sure I could handle multiple days in a row, but the e-bike setup made it completely doable. Great distances, amazing scenery, and no stress about logistics. Everything was planned and smooth from start to finish.”
“We started in Dwellingup and finished in Nannup with the bike delivery and pickup organised — super easy. Not having to worry about transport made a huge difference. We just focused on riding and enjoying the trail.”
“The shuttle option was perfect. We got dropped right at the trailhead and picked up at the end — no hassle, no planning stress. It made the whole experience feel seamless and way more enjoyable.”
