Why Ride the Munda Biddi Trail?

This Noongar-named “path through the forest” takes you through ancient jarrah forests, quiet bushland, charming towns, and rugged coastline. Perfect for anyone looking for a cycling holiday in Western Australia, it caters to a range of fitness levels and adventure styles.

Best Time of Year to Cycle

The trail is open year-round, but the best seasons are autumn (March–May) and spring (September–November) when the weather is mild, the wildflowers are blooming, and the fire danger is low. Summer can be extremely hot and is best avoided.

What Bike Do You Need?

The trail is mostly firm dirt and gravel, with sections of singletrack and loose sand or gravel. You’ll want:

  • A hardtail or dual-suspension mountain bike
  • Or an e-bike if you want to make the distance feel lighter
  • Panniers or bikepacking bags for multi-day trips
If you don’t own the right bike, don’t worry — Fremantle Bikes offers Munda Biddi-ready hire bikes (link to your hire page) fully equipped for the trail.

Gear & Packing Tips

Pack light, but don’t skimp on essentials:

  • Hydration (4+ litres/day recommended)
  • Lightweight camping gear if using huts
  • Water purification tablets or filter
  • Basic tools & spares

We also offer bikepacking bags for hire — just ask when you book!

Where to Start and Finish

You can ride any section, but many start in Mundaring and finish at Albany. If you’re short on time, consider a section like:

  • Mundaring → Dwellingup
  • Nannup → Pemberton
  • Northcliffe → Denmark

We can also help arrange bike drop-offs and pick-ups along the trail.
